Reno 911 the movie is very funny!

M-slice and I accompanied the Lefevres to see it last weekend, and we laughed like hiyenas. I was a little disturbed to find out that Raineesha's junk is bunk: not a real trunk, see? The movie was really well done. One of the few drawbacks for me was the complete recycling of Dangle's intro bit about his shorts and such. Other than that, it was fantastically done because they never took a break from the one-two punch. Joke after kick-you-in-the-dick joke rolled across the screen. They didn't bother with the usual break for story formula that spells out failure for Will Ferrell and other former TV comics-turned movie stars. The theater needed to turn the volume up so we could hear the movie over our laughter.

a summation of nettiquette

This is the main topic of many a conversation at my school, particularly in the distance program. Generally, I think peeps are waaaaay too uptight, but I see some pretty rude things go down.

I love you Penny Arcade.

Happy Valentimes!

try hard not to slip in the puddles of your own puke brought on by all of this sugar (via cute overload)

WTF

There are some weird ways to pick up extra cash. I was a labrat at kim's lab yesterday- totally fun and oddly inspirational for my screenplay.

I saw this on craiglsist today:

A FUN $40 - Easy money for almost anyone. Local company needs your video and still shots for a promotional funeral tribute video. Models? Subjects? call it whatever you like... for a sample “Memorial Video.” We produce videos to be shown at funeral services and need to produce some samples.

This is exactly what we want:

• 25-35 still shots of you at all ages and participating in activities throughout your life.
• Any video of you waterskiing, your wedding, blowing-out your birthday candles, opening Christmas presents, etc…

We will morph these photos/videos into a 4-5 minute, professional quality memorial video sample - appropriate to be shown at a funeral (or as a killer joke at your next party). You get all the originals back, 3 copies of the final tribute DVD AND we give you $40!

We can use a fake or your real name. YES, you’ll have to sign a release giving us the rights to use the photos.

Easy money.

Location: Easy Street
  • Compensation: $40
  • Telecommuting is ok.
  • This is a part-time job.

freedom weekend!

On Friday we went down to Valentine's in PDX (in the alley by Berbati's and Voodoo Doughnuts) to see Claudia play drums in hornet leg. They played with Red Herring and the New Bloods, and it was a really great show. Claudia even sliced up her thumb, but kept on keeping on and played a great set of bluesy garagey songs with her good pal Chris. It was the New Bloods' record release party. I got a delicious vegan doughnut after the show. Greg, Walt & Lefevre had their first show at a house party on Saturday night, and it went really well. Sunday was spent walking around and doing not so much stuff. How great is that? I haven't had the luxury of a free day since school started over a year ago. Being canned definitely has its upside. I haven't been nearly as depressed as i thought I would- the timing is good for school work and crafting and "checkin in" with loved ones. I took some crafts into Re-run for selling this moring and set up a lot of new stuff on Etsy, so here's hoping that helps me out a little.

RIP Anna Nicole Smith

Begging the question, why DO the good die young. She was only 39, and she really did the lord's work by even touching that old, rich raisinette whose money she shoulda gotten. I am so sad to see another cultural icon leave this world. Although I loved those trimspa ads, I always loved fat, drunk/high Anna best. We'll miss you, sweet, misunderstood siren of soft porn and pop culture.

f u in the swoosh

OK, so most of my pals know, but I got the straight-up dis from Nike last week. I was laid off, but before that I was accused of many criminal things by a coworker I mistook for a friend. I am totally confused by it all and can only chalk it up to accounts that the pot-head bitch lives for drama and was possibly threatened by my professional knowledge and training. It's kindof amazing how horribly a company with a bad labor rep handled it all.
Whatever, right? So, I'm taking it in stride (after brushing the bruises off of my ego) and taking it as a sign that it is time for me to go back to what I love the most: making movies! I've felt these nudges from Marge and Liz and the universe. I guess that I should've listened to those nudges before I needed to get kicked in the ass in such a "harsh toke" kinda way. So, now I'm a little broke, but I have time to do a ton of homework and crafting while i look for a new job. I've made a few new lamps that i really love.

Also, Carol took me to see Itzhak Perlman perform violin and then conduct the portland symphony orchestra. He was absolutely amazing, and he conjured music that flowed like warm butter from the orchestra that night. I don't think I'd ever heard them play so beautifully, so fluid, so warm. It was an evening I'll remember forever.

awesome web 2.0 video

This video that is a respone to a web 2.0 post on you tube is a perfect intro to web 2.0 concepts. Well done...
