Hal Perry, known to Tammytown fans as Mr. Gene (the fairy queen,) was on Nip/Tuck this week- which should re-air on Friday night on FX. In his words "after watching the tape I made of it, I realized that I am dressed much like I was to play Mr. Gene (sweater vest, tie, slacks, etc), and it cracked me up. If you didn't see it, I'm playing a husband at an interracial swinger's party who watches his wife get a lap dance from a black guy and...well...gets into it. It's quite disturbing, actually, but was fun to play. It airs again on Friday at 11pm on FX, though I'm not positive. Check the FX website or your TV listings to be sure. Also, it'll come on earlier if your cable company gets an east coast feed from FX."
Hal is a really great actor- you could watch him play just about anyone and feel exactly how he intends you to. He can make you laugh with his perfect sense of comic timing (sometimes as subtle as a neck movement or cheek-twitch) or really relate to his character in serious moments. He also has great insight into the entertainment industry from all of his experience.

late last night I was finally able to help restore a little, teensy bit of my sanity by getting back to my beloved crafting. I made seven lamps! I was on a roll. The one pictured is my favorite- made with slides from a road trip around the Pacific NW in the 1960's. I'm almost completely out of slides. But, that's cool because i'm getting excited to do some serious screen printing and gocco-ing soon. I'd love to make some special holiday gifts this year. New cuteness can be seen at my etsy shop.

From a commercial perspective, it was a bust. We never got on the theater's marquis or schedule. Our distributor had a lot of complications and basically didn't promote us, printed the wrong date on the postcards and no one from their office showed up. I never met our rep, who was dealing with a family tragedy. We only sold three copies and there were no more than 40 people there. Timing was not on our side with getting the attention we needed. None of this has gone down the way you think it goes. But, it's pretty hard to be unhappy when someone pays to throw you and your friends a big ass party and everyone who wants to gets to see and/or own a copy of your movie!
